Of course it will, and the reason that they stopped making it (as I understand it) was that the new one was coming and the supplies of the old one were so high that no one had ordered in a long time.

 

 

 

The point was to illustrate how similar looking things can be completely different. If someone were to throw a coral snake at a camera, teling which it is without freeze frame would be rather difficult.

Worf personal force field and strength enough stop holographic bullets only work for few seconds. So someone carry something like 1,100 communicators size Worf wearing for it work one hour. This back even more so by fact Borg walk about same speed as a human but are much stronger any body in UFP other Data. So likely personal force field weight a lot as will. That be good reason why we did not see UFP security personal wearing them. Must time starship security fight criminals or intruder often run extremely fast. Normal not charge station near by UFP security personal in fire fight. So personal force field might will useful try defend territory over runned.

Wait a minute, you are still an idiot. Why are we debating about forcefields? We know the UFP has them but are completely stupid and don't hand them out to every starship in Starfleet. Armor, in the other hand has gone bye bye, much like whatever brain cells you may have left. As for why they are not handed out. Your logic is completely bonkers. Worf made a makeshift personal forcefield from his communicator. Of course it wouldn't last long since it was not designed to act as a forcefield generator! As for the proof with the Borg.... having you been lending yourself as a pinata at a Hell's Angels party? How does the Borg drones being able to walk as fast as normal humans (fat chance unless you think you walk like a fucking zombie. For all we know, dedicated forcefield generators could be small enough to be clipped onto a belt. It has to be small enough if the fucking UFP has enough of them to equip an army.

I think its more that forcefields might just have a very limited use. Can a phaser work through a personal forcefield? how do you prevent people from just modulating to shoot through it. Even Klingon rogues without modern equipment can pull off that trick, at least in the abstract.

 

 

 

Would you deploy personal forcefields in large scale (division and corps +) ground combat, or even similar scale counter insurgencies? Yeah, then it probably makes sense. Does it make sense for small scale engagements, maybe not - I have no idea.

 

 

 

The fact of the matter is that just that one line really doesn't tell us anything other than that they exist (and therefor contradicting that nice piece of jumped up fanon that Paul and Jason are such fans of). What they are used for, and how? We don't know. My explanation of limited uses and forcing the use of melee weapons has the nice bonus of explaining the Klingon fascination with bladed weapons, but it is no more or less valid than any other theory that explains why they don't show up anywhere other than the animated series.
