UFP vs. Tyranids,

Recommended Posts

Again, according to the article, most of the damage was apparently from the field fucking with the ship's internal systems. Federation ships aren't going to be harmed by those sorts of temperatures on their own, let alone Tyranid vessels.

Even though Tyranid vessels are considered weak by 40K standards. Which, depending on what stats and sources your using, could be anywhere from teratons to kilotons (the latest edition of Rogue Trader puts 40K firepower in the kiloton range).

It took Dominion 10 hours to overpower Batazed defense with no starship available to help them out by the way.We know nothing size ten fleet or what starship part of it. We know nothing about terms which Batazed force surrender. It could been great deal ground combat go on and space combat go for Dominion over power them. Ground base defense installations, planetary shields and combat ground vehicle be used both sides. Dominion took ten hours over power shield knock the ground base defense installation with help ground troops and artillery then they force to surrender. Or their could have been orbit defense plate forms Jem Harder bug ship rammed them in-till made hole defense then reach planet over power planetary shields over power them force surrender. It possible just had destroy space station for that matter. Since all we know took them ten hours to do it wild guess work to what happened. If wish see evidence took ten look part say history and look As a result Betazed fell to the Dominion within ten hours

Also come major world UFP could easily deploy cloak self replication mines fields around world turn them on sensors pick up the Tyranids fleet.

Also when come to thalaron radiation UFP had done research in past. if wish see evidnce go to this site http://en.memory-alp...laron_radiation

go to history and uses and then find.

Because of its lethality, thalaron research was banned in the Federation.

Even in practice like phase cloak device thalaron radiation is illigle to study hardly stop section 31 doing research on it. Also UFP desperation might well try deploy it like weapon to defend it self.

You are speaking in gibberish. Come back when you can type in English.

Although, this is a surrounding energy field, meaning the 'nids ships are getting cooked from all directions. Even with shields, the Enterprise's hull heated up to 2,000 degrees. The unshielded organic matter of a Tyranid vessel would fare much worse against such heat. Not to mention that it says that the Kelvans' ships were eventually destroyed by the barrier.

Except you are forgetting that the 'Nids will be traveling through the Warp and therefore bypass the Galactic Barrier. smile.png They might not have shields but I can pretty sure believe that they'll coat themselves with some sort of slime to protect them from the heat if they passed it in real space, if they don't have thermal protection as it is. smile.png

Plenty of other sources peg it much higher too.

Did nobody notice this little gem?

"However, strong gravitational forces cause interference with a Narvhal's delicate senses. And so on final approach to a system, a Tyranid fleet can no longer use a Narvhal's ability but must resort to slower conventional propulsion whilst within a system's borders. This will often slow their arrival by years or even decades.1"

So, having decades to prepare for an attack, or better yet, decades to pick them off one by one with warp capable ships. That's a pretty big disadvantage, I'd say. Something that could be easily capitalized on.

If that was the case, then how exactly did the entire first Tyrannic war take place across multiple systems in the timespan of a year? If your quote was indeed the case, then the Ultramarines should have had decades to centuries to prepare for Hivefleet Behemoth.

No idea. I know next to nothing about 40k. I just read the link and wondered how that fit in. It would seem like a huge disadvantage.

I think you forgot about the Shadow in the Warp, the psychic field that the Tyranids possess that disrupts communications in 40K, due to them being Warp (Psychic) - based. The very presence of the Tyranids would stop communications from reaching the Ultramarines until it was too late. And as you said, Hive Fleets are huge.

And Battlefleet Gothic mentions that the ice rings of gas giants are things to be exploited in space battles. Meaning, the debris that makes up those rings can seriously damage ships. What's sad about this is that the ring material of gas giants is at most, the size of my house. (30 feet high, not counting basement).

Except that Tyranids don't use the Warp. They have a creature called a Narvhal which behaves like a Star Trek warp engine: http://wh40k.lexican...al#.TwKO-tRSRec

Accord your source seem they take years even decade reach star system. I say that thalaron radiation like option UFP turn for follow reasons. First after Earth nearly whip out by thalaron radiation. UFP government would end ban research on thalaron radiation. Also Section 31 would like doing research have work thalaron radiation generation top secret bases.

And how exactly does it say that they're 'exploited'? Sailing vessels used to 'exploit' the fog to their advantage. Does that mean that sailing vessels were seriously damaged by fog?

Thaleron weapons were not put into relatively wide use until the 25th century, so no.

Ice rings are mentioned to be threats to starships that should be avoided, or exploited. The same also applies to asteroid fields, gravity tides, and nebulae.

And I made a mistake. It's not Battlefleet Gothic that it's in, it's Rogue Trader. Which, curiously enough, mentions terawatt-level energy weapons.

UFP had no reason us it before 25th century if even.
