Not exactly what normally goes on in here, but I didn't know where else to put it. During the Russian Revolution, the side that supported the czars were called the "Whites". The communists were the "Reds". The Galactic Empire is a monarchy (granted, one that came about through political upheaval, and with a very short dynasty, but a monarchy nontheless), while the UFP is socialist. The Imperial Stormtroopers wear white, just like those in favor of the czars were called "whites", and Starfleet's Redshirts wear red (no duh), just like the socialists/communists in the Russian Revolution were called "reds". Is there deeper meaning to "Redshirts vs. Stormtroopers" rather than it being just "cannon fodder vs. cannon fodder", or do I just think too much?

Last night, I had the most fucked-up dream ever. It started when I was being chased by zombies who could go at fastest two miles per hour. However, there were just so many of them that they were a threat. I started to outrun them, before coming to a field of poodles. The zombies started mutilating the poodles, and that seemed to distract them for a while. Then, I saw fireworks, and I ran into the building that they were launching them from. Once in the building, I saw John Fogerty, Ringo Starr, Jimi Hendrix, and some other sixties musicians. It wasn't until I managed to catch my breath that I noticed something in my jacket pocket. I grabbed the thing out of my pocket, and found out that it was a CD with the words "RayCav's Greatest Hits" written on it. And that's when I woke up. Now tell me, have you ever had a dream that fucked-up?

First: Dune: At the very least, humanity in the Duniverse covers the Local Supercluster. That is fucking enormous. Millions, if not billions of galaxies. Irken population most likely pales in comparison. Second: The Feddies: Temporal Shields protect the users from changes in the timeline. As we saw these in use in "Year of Hell", in the 24th century, the UFP would have no doubt mastered them 700 years later. Third: 40K: You obviously don't know how powerful upper-tier daemons and daemon princes are. And Chaos cultists could always use Irken as sacrificial victims. Or get the daemons to possess the Battlemechs. Fourth: Fanwank.

Okay, I just saw your post of this on SBC today, checked some more sources and I've realized a few things. First, the number of people in the Dune universe is nothing short of phenomenal. The Irken Empire pales in comparisson with such numbers. Second is the 31st century UFP. They probably have the technology to just erase the Irken from history, much like Annorax's ship in Voyager did. Third, with all the Greater Daemons and Daemon Princes in 40K, the Irken have just gotten themselves into a supernatural shitstorm. Fourth, is that you are to Invader Zim what Jason (Mr Mash Potato Brains) is to Star Trek.

Actually, it's mentioned that Imperial stormtroopers who fight underwater are issued sonic blasters because regular blasters don't work underwater. Given that a turbolaser is just a ridiculously upscaled blaster, we can assume that they won't work underwater. However, fluidic space is not filled with water. Instead, organic fluids fill it. However, given the fact that water should stop the TLs from firing, it wouldn't be too hard to imagine that liquid wreaking havoc on the TLs.
