  1. But it still needs to be posted. On December 31, 2014, Flaglerchat died of cancer. We no longer have to worry about him being a threat to this board or its members. For those who never met him, Flaglerchat (real name: Patrick Mannix, Sr.) was a troll? Nuisance? Total cunt? Who's "schtick" consisted of finding other people's personal info and pictures, and posting them. More info on Flaglerchat can be found on his Encyclopedia Dramatica page, here: https://encyclopediadramatica.rs/Flaglerchat And so, without further ado, I'd like to say two words in memory of Flaglerchat. Good riddance.

    The Winter Fortress

Shar walked out past the fortress' gate to greet the newcomers - probably the usual ragtag bunch of misfits. As he continued to walk forward, the group of new recruits came into focus. There were about twenty or so - mostly human, with the occasional Klingon or Wookiee thrown in - for the most part, the usual recruits. There were two Drow in the group, and a Kroot as well - less typical, but nothing he hadn't seen a few times before. And... one Ferengi. Okay. THIS was odd. Ferengi for the most part weren't known for their prowess in combat, to say nothing about their general unwillingness to seek it out. Ultimately, he decided that it was irrelevant, and decided to give his usual introductory speech. "Good morning!" the Andorian shouted. "I am Captain Tol'kan Shar, commander of the Winter Fortress 8th Battalion! And you lot, are now mine to command!" A bit of a harsh intro, but then, this WAS one of the harshest locations in the world. "For fifteen years, I've served at this place, so, I can safely say that half of the rumors you've heard about the Fortress are false." He watched the recruits start to sigh in relief. "However..." he began, getting their attention. "All the rumors you've heard about the Tengaren Forest over there? Well, they're probably true." Now he watched as the cadets began to blanch in horror. "You mean...." one of the human recruits began. "That there are ghosts in the forest? And zombies?" Shar laughed humorlessly. Oh, he might already have to send one of these newbies home. Terrific. "Boy, the undead are the LEAST of your worries regarding that forest! Well, them and the Greenskin tribes that lurk in there. In that forest, there exists every sort of infernal being you can think of. Demons. Daemons. Pah-Wraiths. Fek'Ihri. Mazoku. Apostles. White Walkers. As well as all sorts of horrors that haven't been named yet." Shar paused, letting the info sink in. "But, with training, skill, and more than a little luck, you can learn how to not only survive these monsters, but even turn the tide against them." He took another look at the shivering cadets. "Now then, let's get to the dining hall, and get you all a nice hot meal. Can't have the newbies getting hypothermia, can we?"

    The Bad Joke Thread

Stupid jokes go here. I'll start. What do you get when Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad, Sir Gawain, Sir Percival, and Sir Kay go to a haunted pizza joint? Five Knights at Freddy's.
  7. Alright, another "Capture the Flag" round, where a bunch of random-ass characters play a violent game of "Capture the Flag" in a 16 square mile area in a forest. Once again, this is a free-for-all, to add to the overall chaos. Our contestants this time: Steven Hyde Cheetor Ralph Wiggum Jean-Pierre Polnareff (and yes, with his Stand, Silver Chariot, too) George Costanza Calculon Admiral Bill Adama Deadpool Marisa Kirisame Gul Skrain Dukat Lord Edmund Blackadder Captain Rex Silent Bob Tyrande Whisperwind Barney Calhoun Vincent Valentine Gonzo the Great Rolf Twilight Suzuka B.A. "Bad Attitude" Baracus Elric of Melnibone Who wins?
  8. Probably. I think Ikaika just missed which currents of magic his character should be attuned to, and we'll be good.
  9. Alright, as the first game of the New ASVS Setting, we'll be doing something simple. A game where we play as members of an organization that's more or less an expy of the Night's Watch from Game of Thrones. And the Winter Fortress is more or less equal parts Castle Black and Bastion's Keep from Diablo III. Just with some more advanced tech lying around. So, yes, this is an RP where advanced weapons are allowed. Magic is also allowed, with each player allowed to choose three currents of magic. Although, the 11th/Ultimate spell for each current is forbidden, as that would be kinda game-break-y. So, in this thread, we post our characters before we get started. Alright, so, I'll post my character first. Granted, since I'm DMing this, I'll also control the NPCs, so, this guy is my DMPC. Name: Tol'kan Shar Race: Andorian Gender: Male Age: 32 Rank: Captain Height: 6'6" (198 cm) Skin Color: Blue Hair Color: White Hair Style: Long, kept in ponytail Eye Color: Green Weapons of Choice: Compression Phaser Pistol, Power Sword Currents of Magic Attuned to: Green (Plants), Black (Shadows), Gray (Death). Outfit: Black pants, mid-thigh-length tunic, and boots; Black-and-gray fur cloak. Demeanor: Gruff, but caring. Background info: Tol'kan has served at the Winter Fortress for fifteen years, five of which have been served as an officer. For the most part, he prefers not to talk about his past before joining. What is known, however, is that before he joined, he was the eldest son of a wealthy merchant family, and had a falling out with his relatives for some reason. In any case, Tol'kan prefers to leave the past in the past, and focus on the present and future. Now, he focuses on getting the fresh-out-of-boot-camp newbies up to speed on conditions in the Winter Fortress and the surrounding area. When he isn't leading combat missions, of course. While Tol'kan can be gruff and a bit of a sarcastic hardass, he cares for the troops under his command doesn't put them through anything that he wouldn't go through himself.

Star Trek Replicators. Questions and discussion.

Technically, not everyone uses replicators. In Deep Space Nine, we see that Captain Sisko and his dad both cook with fresh ingredients, and in TNG, O'Brien once mentioned that his mother would always use non-replicated bacon and eggs. So some people still prefer "real" food. Anyway, I've heard conflicting reports on how replicators work. One source says that it takes raw materials - proteins, water, minerals, sugars, fats, etc, and uses transporters to arrange them in the right pattern. Another source says it takes energy and converts it into matter. Of course, the energy requirements for that are absolutely batshit insane, since, the energy-mass conversion rate shows that one kilogram (about two pounds) of matter is equivalent to the energy output of a 21 megaton nuclear bomb. Which would mean that, if true, that every meal someone orders from a replicator takes the same amount of energy as Tsar Bomba to make. As for the materials, that depends on the source. If they have base-materials, they probably just refuel at a starbase. If it's energy-to-matter conversion, then they just restock the warp core with deuterium they pick up in space, and use the energy from the warp core to power them.

    The Starships "Enterprise"

Yep. The Enterprise-F is the Federation flagship there, after the Enterprise-E was destroyed by Species 8472.

    The Starships "Enterprise"

A list of every Federation starship that bore the name Enterprise. Note, I said "Federation", meaning that Archer's Enterprise isn't counted. And technically, I'm just sticking with the Prime Universe here, for the sake of keeping things simple. USS Enterprise NCC-1701 Constitution-class Length: 289 meters Service: 2245 AD - 2285 AD USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A Constitution-class (refit) Length: 305 meters Service: 2286 AD - 2293 AD USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B Excelsior-class (modified) Length: 467 meters Service: 2293 AD - 2329 AD USS Enterprise NCC-1701-C Ambassador-class Length: 526 meters Service: 2332 AD - 2344 AD USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D Galaxy-class Length: 641 meters Service: 2364 AD - 2371 AD USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E Sovereign-class Length: 685 meters Service: 2372 AD - 2409 AD USS Enterprise NCC-1701-F Odyssey-class Length: 1,062 meters (1.062 km) Service: 2409 AD - ongoing

    Data & Picard by Pogo

    What... the... fuck.
  16. Okay, done. Basically, what happens is, you present an RP in the Out-of-character sub-forum, people post their characters there, and then, when everyone who wants to join has joined, we start the RP in the In-character sub-forum.
  17. After the failure that was the original version, I've decided to update the race selection the players have for their player characters. We'll start with the Standard Fantasy Four. Human Elf Dwarf Halfling Now then, let's start with the races from various settings that ended up here! Star Trek Races: Klingon Vulcan Cardassian Bajoran Andorian Ferengi Star Wars Races: Twi'lek Wookiee Chiss StarCraft Races: Protoss Stargate Races: Jaffa Unas Halo Races: Sangheili Command & Conquer Races: Tiberium Mutant Warhammer 40,000 Races: Kroot Mass Effect Races: Geth Salarian Drell Warcraft Races: Night Elf Draenei Redwall Races: Marlfox Badger Dungeons & Dragons Races: Drow Tiefling
  18. Basically, what I had planned was that, thousands of years ago, various members of the current playable and NPC races got swept up via portals to this new world, and have since called this world home. Besides, this is just the overall universe setting. A setting which has many distinct regions, allowing for people to play a lot of different characters, depending on where an RP is set. Hmm, perhaps I should add a few more playable races.
  19. Hadn't really thought about that. Don't know why I didn't add Vulcans, come to think of it. Maybe I thought they were too similar to the elf races.

    The Starships "Enterprise"

And after the first seven, we have this lady from the 26th century: USS Enterprise NCC-1701-J Universe-class Length: 3,200 meters (3.2 km) Service: 26th century (no more specific than that, unfortunately)
  23. In which the Ghost and Gold Squadron hide from Imperial ships in a nebula filled with still-forming stars: Given that Hera said that the star was still forming, but that it was already glowing, I'd wager that this was a T Tauri star. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T_Tauri_star Notice how even the shielded ships begin burning up while they're still far enough away for the star's edge to appear curved, rather than a straight line. This... does not speak well for SW ships' thermal resistance.
