    Just how tough are ya?

I'm so tough that guns are afraid of me. Or.. I'm so tough, I can be at ground zero of a nuke explosion and the shockwave\radiation\etc.. avoids me at all costs. I'm so tough, I held a staring contest with the sun and the sun blinked.

    Just how tough are ya?

I once kicked a tree in the nuts and survived!
  3. Of course ST has more because of the number of episodes aired compared to the SW movies. But SW does have plenty. Amidala, her double, Leia, Twi'lek dancer (not the large one but the one that ended up in the Rancor pit), etc... (more in a bit)

I got ya's all beat. I live with my in-laws and I am still alive.
  6. Nah, it is because you are French. You surrender too easily. lol
  7. The saucer also crashed through what looked like large rocky outcroppings before crashing into the ground before leveling off. Also, compare how the crew were affected between the E-D saucer crashing and the ramming of the E-E. It was a lot more violent with the saucer section than the E-E. It should prove that the saucer took a lot more of a pounding than the E-E and came out somewhat better. I still think that the E-E had "crumple zones" to deflect as much of the impact as possible to prevent structural damage to the rest of the ship. Something that the E-D lacked.
  8. Unless thruster velocities exceed the speed of sound then yes there is a big difference.

    Re-watching Voyager

It has been a while but I remembered her acting as if it was no problem. Again. it has been a long while. NVM, read up on the episode on Memory Alpha.

    Re-watching Voyager

I also hated VOY's approach to any major antagonists. They've practically neutered every one of them. The Borg no longer became a technological nightmarish juggernaut but pansies to Janeway. Remember Q2 bringing in several Borg Cubes and yet Janeway wasn't bothered in the slightest?, Hirogens went from large Predator type villain to wimps being taken out by holograms. Species 8472? Went from Borg killer to being afraid of humans. Just plain stupid.

    Re-watching Voyager

Not really. VOY's plot in the pilot was so easily solvable. All they needed to do was put those tri-cobalt bombs on a timer and had the Caretaker or at least use his array to get home and then KABOOM! Voyager and the Maquis are back home and the Kazon are unable to use the array. Badda-bing, badda-boom! You can't say that with any of the other Trek series. But I can't say about the rest but even then the solution should not be so glaringly obvious.

    Re-watching Voyager

If the pilot episode was done right, there would have been no series. lol
  14. I prefer for it to last more than a second. But to each his own.
  15. Well..... the Republic was technically being raped in the ass by the Banking Union.
  16. Both universes uses space ships. Both use weapons.
  17. Both ST and SW have planets.
  18. There's also the fact that the Banking Union charged the Republic exorbitant interest rates on their loans and lines of credit. Something the BU would not dare do to the Galactic Empire lest they want to lose their heads. The Republic was largely corrupt and decadent. Almost nothing got done and if there was a problem and it was brought up to the Senate, that issue could easily be sidelined with meetings and commissions until the issue no longer becomes one for good or bad. There was no one uniting the Republic so while many individual planets may prosper, the Republic as a whole suffered. The Empire was the complete opposite. The Emperor united to an extent the whole galaxy and controlled it with an iron fist. Anyone that went against him did not live long. It would be easy for the Empire to have huge revenue streams either legit or not. That and using aliens for slave labor. The Empire was rich enough that not only were the prototype DS plus the DS 1 and 2 built in secret, but so was the Maw Installation. Something that could not be done under Republic rule.
  19. For the DS, if you go by the EU, it was not the prototype. They had a facility (Maw Installation) inside the Maw Cluster (a cluster of black holes near Kessel.) There the prototype was built. The DS1's construction started at the Maw Installation before being completed at Despayre. Though there is some debate about the DS prototype and the DS1, it has been retconned so that they both were built alongside each other.
  20. Ganathan in Wookieepedia. They are largely isolated from the galaxy so their ships tech level had been lagging yet they did have some advanced tech in other areas.
  21. The ships alone seem cheap in comparison. Nebulon - B - 9,000,000 credits ISD Mk.1 - 180,000,000 credits ISD Mk.2 - 145,670,000 credits. If these ships were real and the currency exchange came out equal to the USD, I see the U.S. government along with other nations, dumping their naval ships for the Nebs and ISDs. lol
  22. I've read somewhere on average for a sergeant is like $500K. But that personnel costs including support personnel, AFAIK. It goes up if you factor in operating and equipment costs. For grunts, average personnel costs is around $400K. For ten million, that would come out to about $4 to $5 trillion dollars. The U.S. alone can afford that. Coruscant, with its population of one trillion can easily afford it if each person donated 5 credits.
  23. The point is whether those ships can stay still while in a planet's atmosphere. Ship classes like the Intrepid and the Defiant can because you need to stay still or else you'd defeat the purpose of towing the target if you shear off chunks of it while in motion. Remember from the MA link about the tractor beam. The ship doing the towing and the target must match velocities or else one or both ships would sustain damage. I'm not arguing whether the ships can withstand atmospheric pressures or extreme temperatures.
  24. Did they stay put and not move at all or did they keep moving while still in the star's corona?
  25. Can you tell me where that has happened? I do not recall that happening.....
