More than just label but a way of life? It isn't strict as to who claims to be one but if those that claim to be a Sith were to find out about each other then soon it would be down to one. Besides, claiming to be a Sith is usually bad for one's health. Other than those who also claim to be one, the galaxy on the whole would frown on such claims and the Jedi would want a word with him or her.

In Generations, (I watch with the captions on) when the saucer passes through the clouds the caption reads (sonic boom), that would mean it entered the atmosphere faster than the speed of sound. The crew could not control the saucer other than limited control in trying to level the saucer.
