If our phaser discharge is off by as little as point-zero-six terawatts, it would cause a cascading exothermal inversion. Given that the phaser discharge we are referring to took 3 seconds on screen, this variance is roughly 52 tons of TNT. I guess its a good thing there weren't any forest fires going on anywhere on the planet, - or God help them - a volcano. Regarding the actual technobabble: The phrase "cascading exothermal inversion" makes no sense. The writers could have opted for "cascading exothermic reaction", or even that phrase's synonym, "burn", but instead they fucked it up. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
