Khas 12,158 Posted March 21, 2013 I've noticed a few similarities between the races of Star Trek, and standard fantasy races. Now, I've pinned down which ST race corresponds to which fantasy race. Humans = Humans Vulcans = Elves Romulans = Dark Elves Klingons = Orcs Ferengi = Goblins Tellarites = Dwarves Gorn = Lizardfolk Caitians = Catfolk Borg = Undead Species 8472 = Lovecraftian Aliens Bajoran Prophets = Angels Pah-Wraiths = Demons Q = Gods Founders = Changelings Granted, not all match up, as I doubt that there are really any fantasy equivalents of the Jem'Hadar, Cardassians, Bajorans, Vorta, Tholians, Breen, etc., but there is some overlap with the ones listed. Afishymeadow 534 Posted March 22, 2013 Good matchups! Harking back to the "ancient" DARK TOWER game of way back, the Brigands in that medieval/Tolkien-like game could be counterparted with the Jem'Hadar, up to a point. Might the Orcs also be counterparted with the Jem'Hadar?
scvn2812 504 Posted March 22, 2013 Without pulling out my Pathfinder Monster Manual, the first thing that comes to mind for the Tholians are the classic scifi / comic "lava men." Of which I'm sure there's some example of them in fantasy, I'm just struggling to think of a mainstream one. Any humanoid mob in Molten Core of WoW would probably do. Afishymeadow 534 Posted March 22, 2013 The Cult of the Pah-Wraiths would fill the role of witches & warlocks probably(?).
