Babylon 5's 20 years old too? Not JUST DS9!

Netflix now has the entire B5 series on DVD. I just watched the first disc, Ep 1-4. It is obvious that the show is 20 years old, it looks relatively low budget and the charachters are so "over the top" (and not to thinly veiled ST inspired at that). But the overall concept and story lines hold up really well. I look forward to getting to the second season, when budgets went up. Good stuff, too bad a lot of the public have forgotten it as an "also ran".

    Star trek Deepspace nine!

I just finished the series two weeks back. Amazing series. The Dominion wars got a little hokey and tiresome. My biggest irk is that at some points "The Worf and Dax saga" almost completely dominated the series, to the point it seemed that 50% of episodes were completely revolving around them... even after Jans-Dax dies!!! That being said, IMHO, DS9 reached the peak of "what could be" in a ST series.

    Re-watching Voyager

Over a year later, and I can no longer force myself to watch it any more. I spend so much time FFWDing past Neelix and Kess [sp?] that the average episode is minimum 25% cut. My wife said she barely remebered the show, and would give it a try, but as soon as she saw Janeway she said "Oh, Fuk, this is the one with that annoying d-bag cook with the mohawk... I'm not watching him for a second!". Braga should be waterboarded at gitmo for this series...

Dying Star Trek fan allowed to see Into Darkness early

Cool, sort of like a real life ST version of "FanBoys".

Enterprise may return for a 5th season on Netflix!

Enterprise already looked ridiculously low budget, not sure that Netflix could do much better with it. Plus, Netflix has had a spotty run with it's originals: House of Cards: EPIC WIN, great show, it got the 2 Million new subcribers. Arrested Development: WIN, even though it got some bad critic reviews and new subcriptions fell short of predictions. Hemlock Grove: Meh, it's just there. Shocking for the sake of shocking, but as far as I can tell they forgot to write an actual plot. Orange is the new Black: FAIL. My guess is the only people watching this retread jail drama, are 16yo boys wanking it to all the soft core scenes. With a 50/50 batting average, it will be interesting to see how much money they will allocate to further exclusives...

Babylon 5's 20 years old too? Not JUST DS9!

This is one of my favorite Sci Fi series of all time. So far neither Netflix of Amazon Prime have this available for streaming, I'll keep my fingers crossed...

What did ya'll think of prometheus? NOW out on DVD and Blu-Ray.

I thought the movie was above average scifi fare. While the movie started out interesting, especially the scene with Guy who seeds the planet. But after that it just seemed like another way to make yet another Alien franchise installment. The idea that the black goo "outsmarted" superior beings, is a bit of idiocy that they expect us to blindly swallow. They know they can get away with all these huge logic gaps, because the general public is filled with simple minded cretins with zero attention span. Definitely worth a watch, it was well done overall. Just don't expect to be walking away with anything remotely close to a nerdgasm.

    Star trek Deepspace nine!

I know that solar sails are real. I know the Cardassians knocked the crap out of them for 50 years. My issue is that "hundreds" of years ago these simple craft were in space. If they had the tech to get man into orbit hundreds of years ago, they would not have been using those silly craft that look like some whack ass Divinci drawing. If they were purely relying on solar sails, they could not have had the tech to get into orbit. Even if we go way out on a limb and say they got into orbit via light propelled device, it doesn't add up because Gov't skunkworks are currently only just being able to propel a small disc a hundred feet in the air - and that is with our relatively superior tech. There is a logic flaw in these assumptions we are supposed to swallow.

    Star trek Deepspace nine!

An episode I saw last night reminded me of something that has been irking me. OK, I get this hokey story that the B'jorens [sp?] had some solar sail craft that allowed them space travel hundreds of years back. They claim to have had space travel before the Cardassians. Yes, a charming little story. So lets assume these crafts would be possible with their technology, because they use the same tech as ocean ships and primitive submarines. So then how the hell did they get into orbit? Seriously, WTF?

    Firefly: Overrated and Unoriginal

The problem with Firefly is that a lot of the dialogue comes of sounding like douchebaggery. My wife wanted to punch me after watching the movie. Some can be funny, but that series made me roll my eyes so many times I got vertigo. Not really, but you get the level of yawn I think it deserves.

    Star trek Deepspace nine!

I'm far enough into the series that Worf has now joined. It's not working for me, the story lines around him are tiresome cliche. He was a compelling character on NG, but on DS9 it feels contrived and counter-intuitive to what the tone of the series is. I'm not sure if they needed s ratings boost or what. And the impending marriage to dax is just plain jumping the shark. No wonder the ST franchise started the death spiral after DS9. I will be doing the FF during any of their courtship BS. This story arc makes baby jesus cry.
  12. I don't want to live in a world where this is true! It will be nice to finish up the last trilogy, but Disney is going to rape this franchise.

    Re-watching Voyager

I sill haven't made it through Season 1 yet. Janeway's "I am Kate Hepburn" soliloquies get a bit too much for me sometimes. Episodes that are Neelix or Tess focused get skipped, or at very a lot of fast-forward, the douchechills are just too much for me. Meanwhile I still watch when I can, mainly because I am still trying to figure out if Lt. Torres is hot or not.

Wormhole phenomena permits it. I meant OS and NG. They seem like slapstick compared to DS9 scripts.

    I'm so depressed/pissed right now.

My sympathies. Monday I had to put down my 15+yo Cat "Dante". He was looking a little sick for a few days, then within 72 hours he was comatose. The last 36 he stopped drinking water and was sleeping 99% of the time. Monday morning he started having spasms but wouldn't wake up. I had to break it to the kids that it was more humane to put him to sleep. No fun, with 4 females in the house it was like trying to manage the meltdown at Chernobyl.
