After re-watching TOS, I'm convinced this is the answer. In TOS and throughout all the TOS films, there was no indication that Warp speed was all that limited. In TOS, they routinely go much greater distances than they do in TNG era series and movies. It's only in TNG that we start seeing severely handicapped Warp speeds. Not a change I'm very happy with, BTW.

Ringed Majesty is fucking gorgeous.

New trailer out!

Curtis posted a similar article on FB earlier today. I don't think they are just going to dump the show, but they are certainly winding it down to make room for new projects.

I will be adding a new forum called "The Mental Gymnasium". It's a forum where we bend over backward to reconcile inconsistencies and plot holes in various sci-fi universes within canon. In doing this, I would like to avoid "board sprawl", (too many forums, too few posters) so I am asking for a vote on the following matter. Should I consolidate the Versus debates subforums into a single section, instead of having a separate Star Trek vs Star Wars section and Other Versus Debates section? I feel that this would increase the variety of topics by not requiring them to be pigeonholed into one section or the other. I will be adding the Mental Gymnasium tonight, I will give this poll a week before I make a decision on the consolidation.

Ridding myself of a troublesome bit of nuisanceware
Tyralak replied to scvn2812's topic in Ten Forward
Ugh. I hate those crappy little add on programs that are bundled with download.com apps. Some of them are next to impossible to remove, or they're just annoying-ass toolbars. -
Bummer. Hope he comes back soon.

Alright, I've given it more than a week. I will be merging the VS forums. I would like input on the name for the new combined forum. Ideas? And, no Airlocke, I will not be calling it "This where the fucking debates be"

Google glass: an invention out of left field for televised scifi?
Tyralak replied to scvn2812's topic in Vulcan Science Academy
I'm very excited about this technology, and have actually been following it. Google comes up with some amazing out there ideas. However, although I'm sure there are some Trekkies at Apple, it's a well known fact that Picard uses Android. -
Probably not. I'm fond of the "Warp Highway" theory. It would make sense that there were certain corridors where warp speed was increased. In Star Trek V, it was stated that no ship or probe had returned from the galactic core. Implying that there had been other attempts, and travel there was possible.

I haven't seen the X-Files in a long time. Did they explain what kind of weapon it was?
-
That site shows the galactic core at 25,800 light years away from Earth. It's interesting that this site goes into a lot of detail about other inconsistencies in distances and rationalizes them, but there is no mention of Star Trek 5.
-
It would be more along the lines of "St vs SW and other VS debates"
-
I tend to agree. Thank you for elaborating. Also, those of you voting, please explain why you voted whichever way.

In any sci-fi series that goes on for any length of time develops a certain amount number of inconsistencies and plot holes. Some are worse than others, so the purpose of this forum is to identify these issues, and look for ways within their respective canon to reconcile them. The rules in this forum are the same as the rest of the board. ****END SUBSPACE TRANSMISSION****

This is an excellent topic, Sean. I'd be glad to move it to the appropriate forum.

Abrams apparently endorsed by Lucas to helm EPISODE VII!

It is playing with fire, IMHO. -
I think I'll just leave this here....
-
I tried. YouTube removed it for "copyright" reasons. I managed to get DailyMotion to keep it up though.

What is this I don't even....

Some good points made in that video. I've always thought the idea of starfighters was kind of silly to begin with.

You mean like this?
