Ah yes. We settled that argument over a decade ago when ASVS was still Usenet.

I'll look for some. However, it is an interesting episode on many levels. One angle I just thought of, is the issue of context. This is the exact same debate when we talk about TDiC, and how many deniers of TDiC can't seem to understand the idea of context. These missiles are described as having 100 MT yield. However, in this clip starting at 5:54 we see some of these missiles impact. The visuals don't show anything close to a 100 MT explosion. However, let's examine the CONTEXT. The person making the comment was an experienced Clone Trooper who was very well educated in warfare. In fact, that's what they were bred for. The way he stated the capabilities of the missiles had no indication of hyperbole. Also, he was not contradicted by the other clones who he was talking to. This may sound like I'm arguing on the Wars side, insisting on a yield that the visuals don't APPEAR to support, but I'm actually arguing on the side of intellectual honesty. I'm a big supporter of common sense and context. Both of which support the dialogue in this case.

Oh, maybe I was wrong. I found another copy of the clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_kSIR1E04c

Looks like the clip was deleted from YouTube. I'll try to find another one. But IIRC, the discussion wasn't about ground warfare, it was referring specifically to the long range missles being a threat to their ships.

I'll check on it and see what the problem is. I just got my computer working again. Hard drive went out.

I never had any doubt of this. 100 MT for a high end weapon sounds about right. Which implies that their average ship weaponry was significantly less powerful. I do talk to Curtis on FB sometimes. I'm curious what he thinks of this. I haven't brought it up yet though.

That sucks for TBBS. It's actually a pretty nice place. Of course, they are all welcome here. Perhaps some advertising is in order...... -
Excellent find. I'm looking forward to the displays of mental gymnastics that are sure to come from Warsies trying to tap dance around this one. Oh, and I'm moving this to the VS section.

I did like it as a series. A lot more the second time around than the first.

Well, I finished watching the entire series a couple of months ago. It really was a well thought out show. One of my favorite exchanges in the series from the episode 'The Wire': Bashir: "Was any of it true, Garak?" Garak: "My dear doctor. It was all true." Bashir: "Even the lies?" Garak: "Especially the lies." At first I thought it was just a clever back and forth, until I really thought about it. What Garak was saying was correct. All of his stories were true. Or at least, they were fictionalized accounts built around an essential nugget of information about Garak's past. The stories were invented, but the truth in them was unmistakable and there for the taking, if you were willing to dig for it.

It belongs on the short bus.

Then I'm un-pinning this. There's no point of it being up here.

No, GoDaddy is the domain registrar. Menty just forgot to renew the domain. It sometimes happens.

Here's the thread in question: Buried Cable Now, to set the stage. A person started a thread asking for advice on installing a satellite dish with a particularly long cable run. Quite a few people joined in to give their opinions, as did I. First, let's start with the OP's post. After a few people gave their responses, I chimed in with this in response to another poster recommending RG11: Then, after responding to another poster, this faggot stumbles in: To which I replied: upsss, the dancing faggot then vomited this bit of wisdom: I should have known better than to attempt to use logic on this moron: And then, the moron speaks! Yes, I was astounded by this caliber of idiot, but I trudged on: Now, we wait. I'm sure the wheels in his vacuum sealed skull are grinding away, devising a response. I'll report more as the battle progresses.

There aren't a lot of them around. Those are the major ones. It's true there isn't a lot of traffic here, but we are a different breed of site. The moderation is very light, and you can be as serious a debater as you want or as big an asshole as you want. It's up to you. Welcome.
