  1. The Rolulan warship run some artificial mirco black hole generation power. Star War Empire and the UFP depend mix normal matter with either hypermatter or ant matter. Also the star war Empire and UFP main power generation can turn off Romulan star Empire power generation can not be.

Oh, the "you have no idea what you're talking about" way. Now I get it.

  2. I don't see how. UFP uses Antimatter reactors, the Empire uses Hypermatter, the Romulans use Quantum Singularities.

Of those, the most easy to quantify is the UFP - both becuase matter/antimatter gives a single energy release equation, and because Data can't keep the technobabbling shut off.

  3. Far as I can tell ray shield protect the Death star thermal exhaust does not stop sold object enter or leaving or block it all together like micro probe doing. Other way Rebel proton torpedoes should not work. with micro probe in place that ray-shield location making smell hole that would allow Delta flyer to beam a full size photon torpedoes into main reactor In practice micro probe making the able to transport photon torpedoes main reactor possible.

HOW WOULD AN ENERGY BEAM NOT BE AFFECTED BY RAY SHIELDING?

ANSWER OR I SPLIT AND PUNT THIS ENTIRE TANGENT.

  4. Well, to get that big of a bang from the size of it's core, it has to burn something we don't know in modern physics.

The DS novel tells us it's a Hypermatter reactor, and the ANH novel implies fusion, and since we know fuck-all about Hypermatter, then why not?

That was kinda my point. Implying stellar type fusion doesn't mean burning deuterium the way most modern power generation discussions do.

  5. So basically, if we ignore quotes like "propelled past the retreating ships by the liberated energy of a small artificial sun", then we can rule out fusion...

    Ok... smile.gif

Fine, but what is that sun burning? Helium, Hydrogen, Carbon, god forbid... HYPERMATTER?

  6. Arguing with Jason (or with anyone) is impossible unless one establishes a common mode of analysis (unless - of course - you are arguing about the mode of analysis).

I've stopped caring about the meat of his arguments, but it should be pointed out that a common thread for him is that he misunderstands editing in a movie and looks at events as being sequential even when they don't have to be.

You - on the other hand - have not committed any gross violations of intelligent thought, and so I have no real conflict with you. I don't care about the debate per se any more, and have reeduced my participation in sites related to it drastically.

  7. The A wings didn't bring down the SSDs shields, concentrated fire from the Rebel fleet did. The delta flyer isnt any better than an X wing

Skooj, Jason doesn't understand sequencing. He also doesn't understand that films are unable to depict simultanious events, and some must occaisionally resort to time travel to tell a story properly. Jason needs a very simple narative structure.

I would suggest the Harry Potter books, and others of that ilk. Complex stories, simple narrative structure, and they use it well.

  8. But it pretty much implies it:

Right, and "instant sunshine" means that a nuke operates by the same principles as a star.

Let's leave aside the fact that fusion as it is used in power generation circles and used in astronomy circles are not really the same thing, and that a star can burn a hell of a lot more than just deuterium.

I expect better from this place - well, except for Jason.

  10. She was getting out of the shower, and the Droids felt, if she were naked, she wouldn't run out in the hall to escape because of stupid human feelings...

It's a brilliant plan, you see.

If I were an Evil Overlord, I'd keep all my prisoners naked, so they can't hide anything, they can't run far is I leave broken glass all over my prison floors, and just the basic human shyness would keep a lot of them in check...

I'm pretty sure that that's against the Evil Overloard Rules.

  11. In ST, EP607 is just another lost tech device. Really, if they just rubbed two brain cells together and put a lot of effort into reverse engineering all of the lost tech, the Federation would be a power to be reckoned with. smile.gif

Yeah, but when's the last time - other than Sisko & the Defiant (or U.S.S. BSMFPH if you prefer) - that the Fed's even HAD two brain cells to rub together with regards to weapons?

Seriously, the minute they declared war with the Klingons, they should have sent someone to drag Sisko back to Utopia Planitia. Although - come to think of it - given the lead times involved in the larger starships, there's every chance that Sisko helped design the Sovereign, Akira, Steamrunner, Sabre, and Norway classes. The Intrepid class doesn't seem like his style, and neither does the Nova class. If I had to choose which ones were most likely his, I'd go with Defiant, Sovereign, Akira, and Sabre (noticing the more martial theme in the class ship's names.)

  12. Yes, but will we be using that 25 millennia from now?

That's not the point. It's an example of an aircraft that got so large that the only option to build it was to strap a total of TEN engines (6 Propelers, 4 Jets) on to it to make it fly. And it's descendant many years later had EIGHT JET ENGINES.

  13. That's provided they could even figure the tech out. Let's be honest, technology in the SW universe has been more or less stagnant for thousands of years. Not to mention, that they don't seem to get the grasp of innovation. Their approach is one of scaling up existing tech instead of developing new methods. For example, let's say the problem is you need a vehicle with more power. The SW approach is to build a bigger chassis and put 4 of the existing engines in. One for each wheel. The ST approach is to design a more powerful engine using a different method.

    The B-36 laughs at you.

  14. Picard is basically SFJ's Jason with better grammar, but he's just as much a ST wanker as Jason or KirkSkywalker.

I mean, even Mike DiCenso seems like a moderate Trekkie compared to these two, and I look like... Gasp... A WARSIE... Gasp... tongue.gif

He showed up at SDN as well...

    He was not recieved warmly.

  15. Of course, this obnoxious habit of rabid Warsies to apply a no-limits fallacy to Vader and Palpatine as regards the Force really gets under my skin. They aren't Q for fuck's sake, they're glorified magicians. "Vader can just reach through the viewscreen and Force Choke everyone on the ship" "Palpatine can use Force Precognition and tell where all the Federation ships are and where they're going to go, then intercept them." (No, these aren't strawmen, I've actually heard these stupid arguments presented.)

I hate to bring it up, but the latter does have some evidence in the EU - not a lot, but some. The former is rediculous though.

In the EU it is heavily implied in a couple of places that Palpy was affecting the entire Imperial Fleet, and the fleet became MUCH less capable when he died. It's definitely stated that it happened at Endor (one of the Thrawn Trilogy books). I think similar things are implied in the Dark Empire comics, as well.
