    Just how tough are ya?

I have a French heritage and yet I rarely back down from a confrontation...
  3. True... On the other hand, your crumple zone idea makes sense. Look at the E-D: The exterior seemed in very good shape, but the interior was wrecked. The E-E, on the other hand, had its plating sheared off while its basic structure was intact, and the interior wasn't that damaged... The more I think about it, the more I like your analogy with older cars and more modern ones...

Star Wars really DOES have some steampunk in it.

I dare anyone not to surrender to 7 of 9, Amidala, T'Pol...

    SDN still around?

It's still there, and it's not "ugly", as Ty said, it's just as "entrenched" as ever. It's not just about ST vs SW anymore, in fact it's barely about it anymore, and there are a lot of other forums for different discussions. As far as ST vs SW, SB.com is becoming just as bad in it's moderation endorsed ST bashing...

Yesterday, a dog tried to bark at me, and I ate it... Raw!!!
  9. Yeah, I think I'll rewatch both incidents and try to calculate each vessel's speeds, but I don't think there's such a big difference between both incidents...

    Re-watching Voyager

I started watching Voyager as well, and I still think it is the worst of the Trek series, but yeah, it's not that bad. As for how a timed detonator would have brought everybody back home happy, and Voyager would have never stayed stranded. The problem is, in Caretaker, when Janeway asks Tuvok how much time it would take to reprogram the array to take them home, he said "several hours". They didn't have several hours, since the Kazon Maj had just told Janeway he had reinforcements on the way. Since Voyager had trouble with just 2 Kazon ships (one of which was as small as the Maquis ship), they would not have been able to hold on, and may have lost the array to the retar... Kazons, which means the Kazon get access to super technology, and Voyager still stays stranded in the Delta Quadrant...

Both have hot chicks we'd do in a second...

Enigma, Planets are not technology. A better analogy would have been that both ST and SW have discovered fire...

And both ST and SW have sail powered starships (Dooku's ship, and Sisko's Bajoran ship)...
  16. Have we seen them from the side or the back? I just bought a pair of jeans and discovered it had a concealed pocket with a zipper after bringing it back home, because the pocket was well hidden. If the zippers are only on the side lining, you could have 2-3 pockets per side, or even pockets on the bottom, near the waist, and in a loose upper tunic you'd never see them... The ICS is idiotic in that it doesn't fit with what we see in the movies (KT level weaponry for fighters laser cannon, anyone?), yet people still cling to it... Except I never asked you to ignore the idiocies in ST, now did I? The comment may be stupid, but the problem is, it's canon, and has to be reconciled with the SW universe... And if you want us to ignore idiocies that don't fit with the movie, then we will ignore the "turn a world to slag" wank for the ISD since any such military with ships like that would not need, nor would they even consider building a DS. 1000 ISDs would do the same fucking job of killing all life on a planet and making sure nothing could ever live on it... Except at the time of RotS, the Empire did NOT have a million worlds, most of these worlds are most likely no more than small colonies with hundreds or thousands of inhabitants (Dagobah is part of the Republic, for example), and perhaps what they meant was 5 millions troops, plus 5 million support personnel, plus the cost of the ships that come with them, plus living quarters and food and the energy they require, etc, etc... Except a Senator says it will with no other Senator arguing against that statement. So there's a good chance it will. Why is that, I don't know, but the show says so, so it will...
  17. It was the E-D, and they stayed put, they were waiting for the Borg to move off, but the Borg wouldn't...

  19. Although in this case, the most relevent information is the pressure found there, and the fact that ships capable of standing that pressure will have no problem resisting to Earth's gravity and would not cumble on themselves. In ENT, the NX was stuck in a Gas giant at one point, and didn't crumble. In DS9, the Defiant went deep into a Gas giant's atmosphere to evade Jem' Hadar, and was not crushed by the pressure...
  20. Khas, first, TCW is lower Canon from the movies only, not the EU, so in the movies, we had two Canon super weapons built by the Empire, and they seemed to have enough money left over to also built 17km super ships. In between the PT, we have TCW which states that, at the time of the Clone Wars, 5 million more Clones could bankrupt the republic. Both the DSs are facts. The bankrupcy is an opinion by a Senator who knows, so it holds some weight, and is stated as a fact in universe. We need to find a way to reconcile them, while not ignoring either...
  21. I really don't see why ships that can remain immobile in a sun's outer shell, or in a Gas giant's atmospshere would have any problems doing the same thing in any class-m planet's atmosphere...
  22. Which still shows that they were indeed spending a shit load of money on military. Perhaps the 5 million additional Clones would have bankrupped the Republic, because of all the ships it was building , and the new "super-duper-don't-tell-anyone-or-we'll-kill-you" project of building a planet-killing weapon was already taxing the Republic's economy, especially in times of war where relief efforts would also incur high spendings for the Republic...
