The virbainium that it is made of took a full hit off doctor doom who had stole the power of the beyonder (before he got gimped) and was only partially destroyed. Actually we see plenty of examples of TK (Telekinesis), TP (telepathic) and other abilities that force users have in star trek (at least movie force users). In fact trek has individuals and even races that possess abilities ranging from councelor "camel toe and cleavage" troi's empath abilities to the Q's virtual omnipotence.

BAD ending = They ALL survive. Good ending = They destroy each other. PERFECT ending = They create a create a space/time anomaly that removes them all from history and we get much better franchises.

Yea well i have no idea how to do em.........but i can lay the crap out of a lawn, patio, drive way along with any other ground work and cut down any kind of tree in virtually any kind of area along with other crap like that... Maybe but getting the best out of TOT means a lot of them would be required to go slower, plus we cannot always judge distance and relative speed accuratly. Maybe but for all we know some of those ships could have been moving at a large percentage of c, plus you need to factor in guidance systems, can you imagine how difficult it would be to hit a ship manouvering at close to c with a torp that accelerated close to c instantly?. I would think the chance of missing would be uber high in those circumstances as the calculations and adjustments the guidance system would need to make would have to be as fast if not faster than c.

Avatar seemed like Dances with wolves meets aliens then spit roasts Ferngully but relied on CGI instead of acting or any of the other things that makes a film great. The overly simplistic plot and characters along with the stupid commentary at the end annoyed me no end. YES the CGI was good in fact it was fantastic but that is no excuse for letting other aspects be piss poorly done. What was good about this movie (the CGI) did not make up for what was bad (PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING ELSE).

Well im not gonna put as much faith in my calcs as you did as i was just giving a rough estimation. But he clearly says its at impulse and we know that when they later use the warp engines things go tits up so they were not doing so to get to the speeds we see. We see the DS laser kill 1 planet, then the DS 2 take out a bunch of ships that is likely much easier to do.....do you think that the DS superlaser has only one power setting?. And if it did only have one power setting would not a lot of the beam continue on after the ship had exploded?. Likewise the torps can go faster or slower most likely depending on how much they need to manouver or track and a object like a sun is hardly a nimble fighter craft. Not only that but they are also fired at ships and would likely be set for the best TOT effect so the speed they travel at would reflect that. Well when it was dropping the red matter we do see it easily skirting the edge of a expanding supernova that was travelling/expanding at a speed that would allow it to "destroy the galaxy" and it was certainly not at warp while doing so. Good enough?.

They can get to at least warp 0.5 with full impulse but the speed is achieved by the impulse engines NOT the warp engines. "Full impulse" always seemed to me to be more in regards the rate of acceleration to the top speed the ship had available more than a definition of the top speed itself, but it maybe kinda both in a weird trek way. We only see the DS pop one planet........how often does a event need to happen for it to be canon?. I suppose i could make a reasonable argument that the jellyfish is not a nutrek ship but a highly advanced oldtrek ship so the TMP images can be applied as a comparison to that particular ship and only that ship (as neros got squooshed) in nutrek.

Kirk puts the earth on rear view as they leave orbit at impulse, watch how fast the planet receeds. From this: To this: In around 4 seconds. Now depending on its orbital distance light takes 1.3ish seconds to travel to the moon and the earth having almost 4 times larger diameter than the moon would look quite a bit bigger from the moon than the moon looks from earth. So from the second image we can reliably say that in the 4 seconds they had traveled at least 3 times the orbital distance of the moon. TNG:- Half a life We see them firing torps into a Red giant suns core, a red giant easily has a diameter of earths orbit of our sun. Yup. Dunno. That would require a stationary pov.....or a stationary (relativly) object to measure the visual effect from, like the enterprise rear view while pulling away from the earth in TMP i posted above. We never see the jellyfish start moving from a standstill and go to its top non warp speed so we cannot do that (i just watched all the clips of it), however it is mentioned during the kirk/old spock mind meld that it is their fastest ship, so my bet would be its faster than a 100+ yrs older conni.

Why would the jellyfish be slower at impulse than a conni that was 100+ years older?. They can accelerate like that in ST watch "star trek:The motion picture" as the enterprise leaves earths orbit, because torpedoes can accelerate faster.

Why do we need to figure out how fast the actual jellyfish was when we already have plenty of examples of acceleration from younger ships?. From "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" along with other movies and series we can say that trek ships can go from virtually stationary to c or there abouts faster than it can be actually said.
