Unless you count the native earthlings at the end of the new one.

And by hobbitses I mean Dennis Kucinich.

Ron Paul doesn't have time to run for president, if he isn't vigilant those hobbitses will get his precious!

If you want better spam I would recommend this website: http://www.spam.com/recipes/default.aspx The slogan is "break the monotony of your day with Spam!" Which apparently the young lady above has decided to do. Good for her.

We used to give Jello water to the old people in the nursing home where i worked as a teenager. It was easier for them to swallow. It must have been good, they liked it.

NASA puts the smackdown on 2012 hysterics.
Superanna replied to Tyralak's topic in Vulcan Science Academy
I was under that impression too. There is evidence that the poles have changed and are changing. They verify this by testing volcanic rock, when it cools it is set to whatever the polarity is on earth at that time. The most prevalent theory on this is that the polarity will slowly change over a thousand or so years. During that time it is speculated that we will have less protection from the cosmic radiation, causing some weather changes and higher cancer rates. Though we do still have the moon to afford some protection. There is a great article on this in National Geographic- http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/09/0927_040927_field_flip.html Another thing to keep in mind about this is that the Mayans were astrologers as well as remarkable astronomers. They believed the astronomical events would predict the future. If you believe in this sort of thing it is noteworthy that the Mayan calender does not actually end in 2012. They had a cyclical view of time and there are other events "forecasted" after this. http://www.webexhibits.org/calendars/calendar-mayan.html So in my opinion there is no reason to fly off in a spaceship yet (unless you get a chance to, that would be cool!). -

Really? I thought all apocalyptic disaster movies were completely grounded in science! So 'The Core' couldn't really happen? Man...what a disappointment. I guess when I decide to destroy the earth I will have to come up with something on my own. Thanks Hollywood. -
I'm glad you are ok Airlocke. I agree that you if you don't want someone judging you then don't post your mistakes on a public forum. That being said, Paul needs to relax a little. You remember being 20 right?

I found the old star trek tapes. Even had the fantastic old commercials from Texas. My fav is the Ark-La-Tex Annual Gun and Knife Show." Shore as shootin' I'll probably see you there!"

A little before your time, almost before mine, except my dad is a huge sci-fi geek so we watched everything in that genre that came out. I think the old episodes are on hulu if you want to check it out.

So far I like it pretty well. I think the plot fits well with our current times. Maybe even better than it did in the 80's. But with only 2 episodes out there is still plenty of time for it to get stupid. We shall see.

Who here has seen the Jar Jar Free version of The Phantom Menace?
Superanna replied to Afishymeadow's topic in The Nexus
Sounds great. Even my 6 year old thought Jar-jar was stupid. -
Apparently everyone blamed the stench on the sausage and head cheese factory nearby. Mmmm....pig brains.

My money's on squidface.

I suppose it depends if you think we should have a democracy or a republic (as was originally intended). The entire purpose of the electoral college was to keep the power in the hands of the educated not the masses. I personally have no opinion. Why do you ask?

I just finished the book 'Spook Country' by Gibson. I was slow finishing it since most of it wasn't very interesting. It picked up a little toward the end though. Not the worst book I've ever read, but a little dull and less imaginative than his old books. He is not exactly the best writer in the world, like I said before, he seemed much better when I was a teenager. My final opinion on it: Meh. Ok if you have a few hours to kill and nothing good is on TV.

Why didn't Dean Stockwell play Daniels on ENTERPRISE?
Superanna replied to Afishymeadow's topic in The Nexus
I don't know, I kind of liked Enterprise. Except the stupid Zindi season. I was sorry when it was canceled. Even so Dean S would be awesome anywhere. -
I didn't see the movie yet, but I did watch that voyager episode the other day. When will those aliens learn? Humans make terrible slaves.

If they ever get around to making a Spaceballs 2, I hope it has Zombies in it.... and Barf. (short for Barfalomew)

This is really interesting, we can learn a thing or two from this little guy. I wonder why it has such sophisticated vision? Any ideas? http://scienceblogs.com/notrocketscience/2009/10/mantis_shrimp_eyes_outclass_dvd_players_inspire_new_technolo.php

Be careful what you say, he may recruit his army of shrinks and tax collectors to get you to his volcano/h-bomb party.

Funny news item. At least it wasn't a motorized toilet. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091022/ap_on_fe_st/us_lounge_chair_dwi

As long as the moon people don't mind. We wouldn't want to provoke them. They can be very territorial.
