Santa: Time Lord, bored Lantean or benevolent Q

Can't be a Time Lord since the typical TL would consider it tedious and beneath them. Why give gifts to inferior species?

    Alternate Universe theory

Both actually. ST2009 era was probably more advanced compared to the main timeline but Nero's appearance altered the timeline. Kirk's father wasn't supposed to die on a suicide run. My theory would be that while the technology of 2K9 Federation is more advanced compared to the main timeline (Off-Topic. It is obvious since technology and what we could imagine it could take us has changed drastically since the 60's, it would change as to how we would now view as to how the future of Trek is shaped.), the lives of the people within it is largely the same as the OTL (original time line). Basically, everything remained the same except upgrade tech, then Nero came along and messed it all up. Mind you, as a fictitious example when revamping an old series is if TNG was to be produced today. The interior and exterior design of the E-D would be different (more so with the interior) and a lot of the technology used would be considered advanced compared to the oTNG. I mean the PADD would look more like today's tablets, phasers would not be those dustbusters and so forth. Then again the tech change between 2K9 and the OTL can simply be hand waved away as nothing since when you see the NX Enterprise, it looked more or less advanced compared to the E-Nil. I'm rambling and need to sleep.

Official Star Trek XII Discussion Thread

Nah, it'll be Jason. A villain that refuses to lose, mainly because he doesn't know the definition of losing.

    AQ & GFFA vs. IoM

Q's son is billions of years old I believe even though technically he should have been a couple of years old. They don't experience time like other linear beings. Time literally means nothing to them.
  5. And here I thought you meant the VOY episode. lol
  6. But it doesn't change a thing except in my analogy, swap a flea with a housefly.

    AQ & GFFA vs. IoM

This is assuming that chronitons will affect Warp beings. Just saying that it'll affect any non-linear being is really disingenuous. So chronitons would kill a Q? We'll have to take into account Chaos' affect on the ST and SW factions. How many of them would end up being corrupted? They do not have the same protection that the IoM seem to enjoy. Chaos aside, ST factions will have to rely on the Empire and Rebels for transportation. Get them to use their tractor beams on the SW ships and piggyback into hyperspace. Or simply dock inside either DS or DS2. To get the IoM to surrender, you really can't just stick around for a long drawn out battle. The ST\SW factoin will have to act quick. Hyper a DS (either one but I'd prefer DS2) with an escorting fleet, blast Mars into pebbles and then demand them to surrender or else Terra will be next.
  8. I swear, Jason is a chatbot with a severe case of degradation. He's making less sense by the letter. I bet his glasses is really a kaleidoscope attached to his eyes.
  9. The Intrepid class would not mass anywhere near 70KT when it is in either impulse or warp. Subspace field would greatly reduce the ship's mass so using it to ram a massive battlestation would be ridiculous. I'm not going to bother with EW since it isn't the Federation's modus operandi. Nor would it be effective against a 160km diameter battlestation! It most likely has enough power to burn through any jamming the Intrepid could put up. How far would the Intrepid be? Can't be too far or else it'll take forever to reach the DS. Can't be too close or else you'll be picked off really quick. The crew of that unfortunate Intrepid Class starship would have to find out the DS' sensor range before making that brain dead decision to ram it. But overall, this scenario would not happen unless the UFP was at the verge of collapsing and even then they wouldn't use a rinky dink Intrepid when they have more massive ships in their fleet (if they even have them at that point.). Before someone brings up Worf from First Contact, remember, he was losing big time and HE'S A FRIGGIN KLINGON! He most likely wanted to go out in a blaze of glory. Don't even bother bringing up ST2009. In that case, it was the only viable solution to save the majority of the crew. I seriously doubt George expected the ram to destroy the Narada, just hurt it enough so everyone could escape. This whole scenario is completely stupid. It is like a person dying because a flea crashed into him\her.
  10. Yet when they disengage from warp they do not remain in warp. By the way space isn't a vacuum or else Voyager wouldn't have started to disintegrate when it went was in impulse speed without deflectors in "The Year of Hell". Accelerate an asteroid at high velocities and it'll start to disintegrate, however slowly.
  11. When dealing with ST, it doesn't always apply. We're talking about getting a massive object's mass to be greatly reduced, moving it at high velocities and still stay that way once its mass is restored. It is like running from dry land into water. You won't be moving just as fast.
  12. If one could do that with Phobos then with sufficient shielding that ship could easily toss the DS into the closest star. But then if it decided to go into hyperpace then you'd be screwed. lol
  13. I guess noone has been paying attention to what I've been saying about the impracticality of using an asteroid as a bowling ball. Basically, even if one managed to tow a fair sized asteroid at high velocities, the energy used to do so is much less than if it was done without mass lightening. The asteroid will not be able to continue its trip once released because of the insufficient energy used to propel it.
  14. Therefore we haven't seen any instance where a Federation starship could tractor a large object AND travel at high velocities. Using this tactic against the DS would end in failure.
  15. How fast was the E-D moving? EDIT: I read about the episode at Memory Alpha and no where did it mention the E-D moving the moon at impulse or in warp. They were attempting to move the moon to its correct orbit. I'm not debating that the Intrepid or the Galaxy could use a warp field to lower the asteroid's mass, I balking that they could do it and still be able to travel at either max impulse or in warp.
  16. I seriously doubt the practicality of using a warp bubble to greatly reduce the asteroids mass and then use it to accelerate to 0.8c unless Voyager was with them throughout the whole trip! You do not get nothing for free. The asteroid is getting a free ride in the bubble but it won't get that once it is dumped into real space. That same asteroid now needs to come up with the energy needed to maintain that acceleration! Since it never moved under its own power in the bubble it definitely won't once the bubble goes away. Imagine the stresses involved in being brought into real space while still expected to move at 0.8c. Not a pretty picture. That asteroid will suffer a nasty case of whiplash. Again, the Intrepid does not have the "horsepower" to go at max impulse and still be able to tractor an asteroid of that magnitude. It has never been shown on TV of a Federation starship towing a multi petaton object and be able to fly at max impulse or warp. It simply isn't feasibly and to expect the DS and its fleet to just sit there as Voyager gets a hernia pulling an asteroid is laughable.
  17. Aren't those Ultramarines in power armor? Also, besides that, aren't they genetically enhanced, making them a lot stronger? Those bolters are quite huge, I doubt a regular Imperial Guardsman would be able to hold one, let alone fire it. Give them each an E-web and let them cut loose.

Aliens vrs Predator vrs Starship troops

The MI would try to lure the Xenos away from the city and then use their nuke RPGs to wipe them out. The Preds will ignore the civilians and concentrate on both the Xenos and the MI. They'll wait for the MI and Xenos to fight before picking off the survivors. MI have some sort of protection but not enough to survive against the Preds. Other than that, if the MI can't get the Xenos out into the open, then I see them being ground up, bit by bit, though I'd bet the Preds would side with the MI if that is the case.

Aliens vrs Predator vrs Starship troops

I had hoped you'd disappear but I guess that was wishful thinking. As for the topic at hand, which version of Starship Troopers? The movie version or the book? How many Xenomorphs? How many Predators? How many Mobile Infantry? Movie version of the MI will not hesitate on shooting the Xenos on sight as they'll probably think their part of the Bugs. In the open, I would easily give the MI the win but less so in closed areas where the Xenos have better chance of moving stealthy. Book version of the Mobile Infantry would probably laugh maniacally as they toss nuclear grenades willy nilly while jumping around in their powered armor. Xenos goes squish fast. As for the Preds, their method of hunting varies according to their prey. They won't hesitate in using more powerful weapons if they see their prey as a big enough challenge. With their invisibility cloak, they could probably stand a chance against the movie version of the MI but most likely lose against the book version of the MI. This also depends on whether or not the MI (in either the movie or book) can detect the Preds cloaking ability.
  21. I'm talking about all of those stories about people being led the wrong way from their GPS. Imagine the same with arty shells.
  22. GPS guided? Why do I picture artillery shells be given wrong directions from the GPS? Shells directed to take a left instead of right and shelling an orphanage instead of a terrorist training camp?
